Organised in association with HM Government, National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and the National Crime Agency, the Cyber Security Summit and Expo is the UK’s largest one-day event dedicated to vital business cyber risk management and prevention. The event hosted cyber security and data protection experts sharing insights with senior business leaders, government policymakers and cyber security pioneers, including those responsible for critical national infrastructure.

Highlights in 2017 included Oliver Gower, Deputy Director/Head at the National Crime Agency (NCA)/National Cyber Crime Unit discussing how to deliver a step-change in the battle against cybercrime and how the National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU) aims to provide a rapid response to the most serious cyber security incidents and Ben Westwood, Senior Privacy Manager & Data Protection Officer at eBay UK discussing how eBay were preparing for GDPR. Other speaker highlights included Nausicaa Delfas, Chief Operating Officer at the Financial Conduct Authority, Nina Barakzai, Group Head of Data Protection and Privacy at Sky and Alison Whitney, Deputy Director for Digital Government at NCSC.

In 2018 the Cyber Security Summit & Expo will include a Data Protection conference alongside the Summit and free to attend theatres with confirmed speakers including Pascal Hetzscholdt Director, Content Protection, Europe & Africa at 21st Century Fox who will discuss the importance of content protection and content security from the perspective of the film and TV industries and Will Smart Chief Information Officer for Health and Social Care at the NHS who will deliver a presentation that focusses how the NHS are responding to cyber security threats in 2018 and beyond.

With the world becoming increasingly interconnected the threat to networks, devices, programmes and data from cyber attackers who continue to evolve with ever improving tactics, techniques and procedures presents an ever growing risk across organisations. Given the prospect of financial loss, disruption or reputational damage the need for protection needs to be at the forefront of every organisations strategy which is why key figures from government agencies, cyber specialists and industry met to establish a cross-sector response to cyber risk and data protection at the Cyber Security Summit & Expo 2017.
