David is Head of ICT at Copeland Council and experienced speaker around the UK on the subject of cyber security. He is an active member of SOCITM’s CTAG (Cyber Technical Advisory Group) and the LGA’s Cyber Security Working Group.
Over his career David has consistently bridged that all important gap between technology and business in multiple areas of both the public and private sector. His extensive experience includes having previously worked for private sector organisations such as Berghaus, Nissan, British Airways, CGI, Vodafone and Virgin Money. While in the public sector he has held IT Director level jobs in both local government and in central government, including working at MHCLG as the Technical Director for GCSx – what later became the PSN.
The first major cyber incident response David was requested to manage was over 25 years ago and since then he has direct experience of helping many organisations to protect against, respond to and recover from cyber incidents. He joined Copeland after they had suffered a major cyber-attack to take over recovery work.
