Clarence Odogwu is currently Chief Security Officer at HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), the UK’s tax, payments and customs authority. Clarence is responsible for securing one of the largest IT estates (in Europe) and repositories of customer data (in the UK). His teams manage the department’s key security and data protection risks, and set policy and standards across an organisation of almost 65,000 employees.
Clarence is an accomplished Chief Security Officer, with more than 20 years’ experience in protective security, technology delivery, compliance and privacy. To date, his career has taken him to 40 countries, spanning 6 continents and various industry sectors.
Clarence was previously Chief Information Security Officer at Sainsbury’s Argos (previously Home Retail Group Plc). He has also held leadership roles in global multi-billion dollar organisations including Heinz and Bechtel, and the FTSE 250 industrial engineering / manufacturing group, Charter International among others.
